After taking nearly a month off from blogging, and the gentle nudge from a friend, I have decided that it is time once again to continue on my blogging journey.

My holidays were jam-packed with action and excitement as I spent time with my family and friends and met some of my future family members. My Christmas seemed to begin earlier than most and end later due to such a blended family which was a pleasant delight because I could go for a good old home cooked meal any day! We kicked it all off in Moose Jaw, spent some time in Regina, drove up to Saskatoon, and then from there traveled to Salmon Arm, BC. I have been to BC several times before, but I had never traveled there in the wintertime, so I was quite excited throughout most of the drive. When we returned to Saskatoon, we unpacked and repacked our bags and headed off for some winter camping in northern Saskatchewan.

The highlights of my holidays include spending a day tobogganing in Salmon Arm, snowboarding on a mountain and riding on a chairlift for the first time in Vernon, getting a patience reminder from God in the form of a flat tire going through Roger's Pass, and of course winter camping- my favorite time of year! We did some skidooing, tubing, and boating on a frozen isolated lake in minus 37 degree temperatures, followed up by the eating of a giant pail of ice cream. New Years Eve was celebrated by having an enormous fire on the lake, with skating, fireworks, friends and hand-built rockets being shot off. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to ring in the New Year than by spending it with the one I love and my friends.

The one thing that I did miss this holiday was sleep. I often found myself thinking, all I want to do is have a day to sleep in… just one day, but unfortunately the latest I was able to sleep in was actually the day I started back to work. I felt like I needed a holiday from my holiday, but I was excited to start teaching again and reconnect with my students.

My first day was action packed, and for some reason it seemed like my brain was on strike (or maybe it was deciding to have its own sleep in). When we started our live class I was so thrilled to have a sharing circle with the group and find out about their holidays and all the excitement going on in their lives. I felt a real connectedness with our small group and I predict that it will only grow as we continue to share with and learn with one another.
